About Us
Made up of guitarist/songwriter Kee Hyon Higgins, drummer/keyboardist Jenn Cain and bassist/songwriter Glenn Bell, Yeobo formed in Seaside, California in 2024. Named after the Korean word for “affection for a loved one,” the group combines psychedelic rock and hip-hop rhythms in reference to the simplicity of their nineties youth.
Higgins is a former pastor who grew up playing guitar in church. When Covid hit, Higgins’ church dissolved, and he began looking for other outlets to play and perform. He wrote the band’s first two promising singles: “Pale” and “Danny’s Walk.”
Higgins knew Bell, as a prominent solo bassist in Monterey, and asked him to anchor down his meandering melodies with some steady buzz. Known as the founding member of local Reggae bands, Bell brings a healthy mix of bass influences: Charlie Hunter (known for D’Angelo’s Voodoo Album, and working with Snarky Puppy, and John Mayer), and Tim Commerford (Rage Against the Machine).
Cain connected with Higgins on Craigslist when Cain answered his ad citing influences: Delvon Lamaar Organ Trio and Khruangbin. Cain, based in Santa Cruz, brings a melodic approach to drumset – echoing Yeobo’s playful chorus on their first single “Danny’s Walk.” She blends drumset with the keyboard to complement the trippy reverb of Higgin’s pedal game.
Yeobo’s first EP and visual album will be released in April 2025.
